Canon 6D with Sigma 18-250mm lens?

I just purchased a Canon 6D camera, body only. I have selected Canon lens already but when I attach the Sigma 18-250mm lens I've noticed that when the lens is at 18mm to 135mm and look through the view finder, it looks as if you are looking at a 1959 TV set until it passes 135mm. At this point the circle goes away. Can anyone help?

the 6D is full frame and causing vignetting, i had similar problem with my SIG 10-20 on my 1DMK11. You need lenses designated for full-frame sensor.

I believe that the Sigma 18-250mm is designed for cropped frame cameras (EF-S mount) and your 6D is a full frame camera (EF mount). You can damage your camera and/or lens if you use this lens on the 6D.

Thanks, I definitely don't want to damage my camera. What all purpose lens would you suggest?

Stick with Canon lenses. A great all around lens is the 24-105mm f/4 but if you have the money buy a 24-70mm f/2.8 and a 70-200mm f/2.8

All three lenses are great for just about anything except wildlife photos and macro.

It depends on your budget and what you intend to photograph. There really is no 'all purpose' lens for a DSLR. The advantage of the DSLR is the ability to change lens to fit your photography needs.

The 24-105mm f/4L is a nice place to start for a full frame body. The Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a cheaper alternative. The quality is not as good as the 24-105mm and the build is cheaper (lens creep is a big downfall for this lens).

This is the ANSWER easily the best combination out there. Especially on a 6D, Get rid of the crop sensor lenses and but good glass for a great camera. You`re putting a volkswagen engine in a caddy.

Thanks so much to all of you who came to my rescue concerning my 6D/Sigma lens problem. I went to Houston Camera Exchange and purchased a canon 28-135mm EF lens. It works great and solved my problem. I have to wait on the 24-105 lens for it exceeded my budget for the moment. My son is graduating form high school this afternoon and I had to put back a few dollars for him tonight. Thanks again so much. I will be chatting with you all very soon. Going now to take some graduation pictures. I will post some of them later.

Thanks again,

So will all my EF lenses have that problem when I upgrade from my 7D to full frame?

Only the EF-S lens will have the issue. The EF lens will be fine.

I keep my Sigma 18-250 on my Canon T2i 90% of the time. I also have a 2x converter that i use with it but I find I use manual focus around 95% of the time.

I used this lens for a bit. It has some play. If you get a LensBand or use an old LiveStrong band (or even a thick rubber band), you can secure the lens from flopping open when hanging vertically. Just overlap with the focus ring and the body. You can still focus, no problems. This simple addition will help with the life and enjoyment of this lens as well as to helping keep dust out of the insides. Enjoy.
