What do Y'all think?

In a couple of weeks, I'm going to Hollywood, Ca. on vacation with a day spend doing the VIP Experience at Universal Studios. I am taking my Canon T4i with the Tamron 18 - 270 and also taking my SX50. I'm thinking about just taking the SX50 to Universal because it's smaller and will be easier to deal with in the crowds. What do Y'all think or should I lug the big one in there?

No, I would stick with both, why, because if it IS a paid for experience a one off then packed up.

I would lock the smaller one in the hotel safe as a backup, take plenty of smaller 8/16gb cards battery charger and two batteries.

I will have both with me. Just trying to decide which to leave locked up in the trunk of the car when at Universal. 16GB?? No way. I have a 64 in the T4i and a 32 in the SX50. Won't even come close to filling them up and I take a lot of pictures. Canon's batteries are so good, it will last a full day of shooting. Experience talking there.

I would never ever use more than 8gb perhaps 16s on holiday, remember DON'T put all your eggs in one basket, lose one card or one is corrupted you still have others use ONLY one card and that goes so does everything

I always carry two just in case one poops out for some reason (or one gets stolen as happened to me in Barcelona)

The other camera will be locked up in the car and there's a Best Buy nearby in case the highly unlikely chance that I'll need another card.

I haven't been to Universal Studios in a few years but I go Disneyland at least once a year. Similar experience as far a crowds go. I take my 7D with a 15-85 lens on a Optech sling strap. It hangs at hand level allowing me to grip the lens to control camera swing as I walk around and I can just let it hang free if my hands are busy doing something else. Never a problem getting on/off rides and is always ready when I want to take a shot. Plus no sore neck from using an OEM camera strap. I can walk around for 12-14 hours with no problem.

I use to carry a backpack with additional lenses but over a few visits I discovered that the 15-85 was all I needed.
