Three shotos +1, 0, -1. Neighbor lady is a master gardner and has lots of flowers.

I'm puzzled: the petals at the bottom and at the top are in focus and the ones in the middle are not.

I tried to focus on the beard and the front pedals became out of focus. Just a short DOF. It was shot with a 105 macro lens

Maybe it's an optical illusion? It looks like the top petals are the farthest away and the lowest petals are the closest-- leaving the out of focus area on the petals in the middle. Obviously this is not the case, unless they were focus stacked. They don't look like stacks-- that's why I asked.

Do you see what I mean?

Yes. And they were not focus stacked.

Nice shot but a deeper depth of field would have made it an excellent photo.

I agree, but I was shooting in the wind and had to wait until the the right moment. With a deeper depth of field I would have had to shoot slower.

You were there and I wasn't. It is easy to make comments when one doesn't have to take the shot :) . Still a good effort.

Thanks, but I agree more DOF would have made it much better. If it was mine I would have cut it off and taken it in the house to shoot. I could have controlled the DOF in the house.
