Pretty soon the free American will not be able to do anything because the government will have something to say or do about it.
That will happen with Obama in there.
Spent a little time in Zaire before it became the DROC.
Taking Photos of most anything was not allowed.
How much of this is fake ? The inconsistency in the type of font used, the angle of view for the word "REPORT" compared to the other words, and the superimposed telephone number all point to someone manipulating this photo. And amateurishly at that
Last week I was at the Marion National Veterans Cemetary taking a few shots for Memorial Day,(I posted one titled 'Sad to see' last Friday)when all at once a van raced up and the Security Guard driving said "Hey, you're not supposed to take pictures here." I said, "I didn't see any sign to that effect at the gate or office." He said, "I know, but we have to respect these folk's privacy." I said, "I'm not taking closeups of anybody's names, just long range and this beautiful statue." Then he pointed to my 90 year old friend sitting on a bench nearby, and said "What's he doing?" I said, "He's just resting, is that alright?" "Well yes", he replied. "I just want you to respect these people's privacy" and he drove off.
I was beginning to wonder about MY privacy at this point.

If they're out in public, there is no privacy.
They are probably already monitoring your phone.

I don't mind the monitoring so much, but when I hear them giggling in the background, that's kind of annoying.

Imagine driving a car with them on, browsing the net and reading email.
Prohibition of photography in UK towns and cities got well out of control a couple of years ago, with anyone carrying a digital SLR getting arrested under the anti terrorism laws, including professional and well known and respected photo journalists. Absolutely mad, because all any terrorist needs to do is google the area he/she is interested in, and of course there is google earth, thats without the many thousands or million of photos taken with compacts with 30x magnification and the billions of mobile phone cameras that can be used very inconspicuously. Taking photographers to court under the anti terrorist laws are an utter waste of public money, specially in the light of the barbaric and disgusting actions of two individuals in Woolwich, London last week and now those perpetrators/TERRORISTS are out on bail, just shows what an ass our laws really are.
Fortunately the anti photographer campaign has eased due to negotiations between police, government and photographic bodies, its good to talk, and common sense can prevail.
Another example of what I call ' Tick Box B------s!!

Absolutely Jerry, its less of an effort and saves their annual budget while keeping their statistics up, enabling them to relax their efforts to incarcerate the real criminals!!!!!!

Dude,
Since you are somewhat local, (about 3 or 4 hours) take a nice drive to Port Canaveral at Cape Canaveral. In fact its on the the way to the Merritt Island wild life area. Park across the street from The Cove Restaurant , walk over to the Charter Fishing shop ( 100,feet to the west) and read sign. Why in the world would I make this up?
Regards,
Bob
Well it is interesting. On the one hand, The President says we are winding down this so called war on terrorism and the first thing the GOP says is he is soft on terror. Keep the restrictions and stay on a war footing. While on the other hand the right wing on this site says the government is taking away our freedoms to photograph things. You realize that the ban on photographing things is part of the war on terror.
Make up your minds.
