I am lucky to live on a mountainside on a crystal clear 85 mile long lake in NW Arkansas.
This has movitated me to start photographing some of the most amazing nature/natural scenery anywhere.
I would like to start educating myself on how to do it right.
So it is my hope I can learn from all the great people in this forum.
Case in point I have a large dead tree in front of my house.
I call it the woodpecker tree. We have a Red Headed woodpecker that would make a great subject for a documentary. Where do I start???
Take a picture and post it
Ok give me a few minutes.
Norfork Lake or Bull Shoals??
Hello, Martin. It's always great to see a new member.
As to "where to start" depends on how much you know about the basic principles. If you understand how f-stops, speed and ISO (formerlyASA) numbers relate to each other this is an important topic if you want to get away from the "automatic" setting on your camera. And I might add, these numbers are easy to manipulate.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, no matter how stupid they may seem to you, but click on the "Topic Log" first to see if your question has been answered. The same goes for photos; if you think you have a good one let us see it/them.
There are a lot of good folks on this site but occasionally you'll find someone a little rough around the edges. Take it with a grain of salt and don't be intimidated. Stay away from "flame" wars.
And last, be diplomatic, nice, and most of all be yourself and keep a sense of humor.
Welcome.
Thanks Ray
I will read up on your suggestions and start there.
Pic is coming of the WoodPecker Tree

Not so much Bull Shoals, but have spent plenty of time on Norfork Lake and in Mountain Home. We have friends that own property on Norfork Lake, and have kept a camper and boat down there for a number of years. We haven't been down therre for about a year or so and really miss it. There are tons of photo opps all over that part of the country.
True We love it here..
Our mountain top is a bird haven along with all other wildlife.
So its time for me to get busy and share this paradise with a camera
