I was in Amsterdam on the 12th with my new Pentax K-30. I shot these two pics using the in-camera HDR function - Let me know what you think.....

I will share other photos of my trip - I also visited France and Switzerland.

Thanks for taking the time to look - please comment.

Very nice shots, but they don't look like HDR photographs for some reason.

With the In-camera HDR - there are 3 options - HDR1, HDR2 and HDR3. These are shot with HDR1 - 3 is overcooked in my opinion and I really just wanted to enhance the colors a little....Thanks for looking and for the comments - I appreciate it.

Try Photomatix Light, which I think is free and can do it with just one photo.

Those are nice options. When I use HDR, which isn't often, it is usually to add a little drama to something, like the clouds in those pictures. I wonder what HDR2 would have looked like?

Again, those are really nice shots, so do what ever "floats your boat."

I've only had the camera a couple weeks - thought the colors, etc would make a nice HDR but didnt' want to over-do it - will keep trying....thanks again!!!

Hi hotzchw

Two lovely shots, well composed and with lots of detail.
Not too sure about the HDR setting.
Why don't you play with the regular settings before playing around with the HDR options ?

I shot a few hundred pics in Amsterdam under all settings - still learning the camera - plus my guides are not photography nuts - so every time I stopped to take shots I had to run to catch up - HA HA

Here is a Non- HDR shot from Amsterdam - thanks for the comments and for looking!!

Hi again hotzchw
Buildings and canal look much, much better in this shot.
The only downside is the sky.
You aren't going to be able to do anything about that unless you use a filter.
Other option is shoot in raw and use file to make under-exposed shot, take sky from it and add to your correctly exposed shot - bit like HDR, except you don't have the unreal look.

Hello H2

I have the raw file but haven't really figured out photoshop or any other PP software for that matter, just can't seem to find the time to learn it because I struggle with it. Thank you for the comments - I really appreciate the feedback.
