This is not my first post, but it is my first offering of any work. Critical review is welcome and encouraged.
I used a trip to the Grand Canyon to experiment with HDR and camera settings. Almost all of this video slide show is made up a photos, but there are a few video clips. All of the photos were HDR processed.
My goal for using HDR was to help remember the vivid color my eye saw on a a hazy day at noon. I'm well aware that as a photographer I should be there at sunrise and sunset, but as a tourist that was not a choice.
I tried very hard to not over cook the HDR process.
https://vimeo.com/64474485 As you know, all things on vimeo look better with the "HD" on and options to download the higher quality originals are provided.

Hi
Just post it on the UHH?
I'm not sure what you mean.
I put the photos into a video. I provided the link to that video, but could not figure out how to make it "clickable".

I copied the URL, opened another browser, pasted it, and watched the vimeo. Overall, it was an excellent program. I like HDR not overdone, do it both ways because some folks like it somewhat overdone I do post some that way. Most of those I could identify as certainly HDR were well done. Because of the "reach" to the other side of the canyon, to my eye the HDR did not do much for the picture. I assume lack of detail at that distance was the reason. Anyway, in my judgment, for anyone interested, it is well worth the effort to copy and paste to see the vimeol.

Thank you for the compliments.
It was a hazy day, it is a long ways across the canyon and the sun was high in the sky.
Some of the lack of detail is due to processing. Premier Elements has to process photos to 1920x1080 to make a video. Although, it does it pretty well, it is not as good as the original. Vimeo has to process it again to make it internet viewable. So, it looses a little more. I'm working on methods to reduce loss of detail, but not sure how far I can get given the necessary dual processing.
The HDR was done with 3 exposures per shot. I chose HR settings that leaned toward "natural" than "intesified". Compared to the originals, there is a little more color in both the brighter and darker parts of the pictures. In other words the "range" is expanded, but not by so much that it interferes with the best drama I could capture of the Grand Canyon on a hazy day.

Vimeo keeps track. 15 people watched it since I posted the link. Thank you! But, only one comment here!

I think we generally like to have
photos to be posted instead of links to a video, so we can reference specific shots. These are usually put in the Photo Analysis section for critique.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am new here, so forgive me.
Rather than a photo, this is a "slideshow" with a music track. So, posting a single photo does not tell my story or demonstrate my attempt at gentle use of HDR.

So these are individual images that were combined into a movie? I don't understand. Did you take hundreds of shots with the camera on a tripod?
Last night I watched an episode of "How the Earth was Formed" that covered the Grand Canyon, so I recognized many of the features that were shown in your video.
You say it was a hazy day, and that shows. We once went to the Skyline Drive, and it was so foggy that we couldn't see the end of our car's hood.
Well done I have a lot of HDR pictures from the Grand Canyon but all of mine are from the bottom up or should I say looking at the walls of the canyon with a wide angle lens from a raft. Never seen the canyon from the top, only from the bottom up. Great place!
