Nice of you to respond as you did, thx.
I have my mom's old Minolta---> photos came out with a nice grainy look. THe film it used isn't made anymore.
Anyone want it?

The film SIZE, or the film TYPE? Kodachrome is gone, sad to say, but 35 MM is still around.

I prefer "cutting edge" new technology.
I need a faster camera for Sports.
I need higher ISO to shoot in poor light.
I need faster, more accurate AFF.
I need more than 10-30 minutes of unattended video.
I need more Video frames per second, not for slow motion but to capture fast movement.

Right now the camera closest is the Panasonic GH4 but it could be a Nikon, or Sony, or Canon if they eliminated the recording limit and improved their Full Time Auto Focusing.

consider used from places like Adorama, BHphoto, Keh or a refurbished from the mfr, they all come with guarantees. You can ask to be sure. The ratings at Adorama, and BH are pretty accurate. You might find something out there you like. I found the difference between the a35 with a 18-55mm Zoom lens and an a55 body only to be about $50. On a tight budget, You might want to consider a body only camera and pick up used glass.
In general I give Sony an edge for the IS built in to the camera.

I shoot a Sony so that's the only one I can comment on...I currently have the A65.
The A35 is a nice camera, I had one and enjoyed it, but if I had it to do over again, I'd go with the A37 - the tilt screen really is nice - even if you don't think you'll ever use it (I didn't think I would, but I love it on my A65!)
If you're on a tight budget, you might also consider a little older Sony like the A390. Stick with A-mount Sony's and get Minolta lenses off eBay - you can get some really good glass for a fraction of new.
My A35 came with the 18-55mm kit lens...I tried it once or twice and put back in the box and never touched it again. You can get a Sigma 28-90mm A-mount on eBay for $40 that will blow the kit lens away. For a little more you can get the Minolta 35-70 f/4 and/or the 70-210 f/4 - the Beercans - both are great lenses.
