Welcome home Whiteeagle. Hope you can keep contact with UHH.
Thanks for your service.
Thank you for your service also. I plan to be back, sometime.
Thank you for this reminder. I remember I can get that CD at Walmart. The hard part will be losing cable TV.

I want to thank all that has helped me in my attempt to learn more about photography.
I've come up with a problem which seems unsolvable right now. I'm not sure how long I can keep my internet connection as I am having to move and have to do it by 6/1. Medicade is helping me as I am a Vietnam vet, but the going is slow.
But the reason for this letter is to thank you all. I am so happy I have come across UHH.
Good luck and come back when you can.

Thank you, I plan on it. Just need to get over this hurdle. Y'all have a lot more to teach me.
Sorry to hear about your current situation. I hope things get better for you before too long. There are several things you might be able to do to watch TV and access the web.
This might help you find a free internet provider in your area. Free internet providers:
http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Internet_Access/Some newer computers do not have a dial-up modem. You will need an external dial-up modem to connect. These are usually not sold in stores. This is a good one you can order from Walmart:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wintec-FileMate-56k-USB-Modem-CX/15074369As for watching tv, you can try Hulu.com. There are a lot of programs you can watch there for free. However, if you're using dial-up it might not work too well.
http://www.hulu.com/If you have a newer TV you might be able to use an indoor antenna and access local TV stations. Here are some possibilities:
http://www.walmart.com/cp/TV-Antennas/4536Also, you might check with the nearest VA clinic. They might be able to hook you up with some local computer guys who will be glad to help you find a low cost solution to your communication needs. Also check with other vet groups, like the DAV.
You might also check with a local church to see if they have someone who might be able to help. A lot of computer nerds are kind hearted and willing to share their knowledge.
I got stationed in Spain and New Jersey, so never saw any action in Nam. But I can surely appreciate what sacrifices you have made for the good ol' USA.
One other thing. If your cable provider is too high, check with your local phone company. They sometimes have services available at lower prices.

Thanks for these links, I think some of them will help. I already have the TV antenna and planned to use it if I lost cable. I just can''t stand prime time shows. Oh well.
I've always been embarrassed to tell where I was stationed. I was a radioman in the Navy and had a top secret crypto clearance so they sent me to Hawaii, of course. But you have to go where they need you.
No need to be embarrassed about not being in Nam. There were military establishments all over the world, and they all needed people. At the time, New Jersey was considered remote duty to me, being from Florida. Then I met a nice Jersey girl, and we've been together ever since.

You are right MisterWilson. I did not choose to go to Nam. As a mater of fact, I still have a slight grudge against the one who sent me. Actually, I'm glad I went, but would not want to go again.

Wish you well. Didn't do Viet Nam - left the Navy after 10 years in 1964 (Navy made the mistake of giving me recruiting duty and I saw what a normal family life was like) and you guys had/have my admiration.

Thank you, so many brothers have told me that. I now admit freely where I was stationed.
However, it was not all luaus and hulas. We were stuck in the middle of a pineapple field in the middle of Oahu.

Thank you.
When I got home I wasn't met by all the hatred that every other Vet met back then. The effects of what they went through made me understand what I missed back then.
I joined VetFriends looking for a buddy and all the emotions hit hard since I was seeing it all over again. I did get through it with a buddy's help.
