How do I fix this anomaly-light band in top center of photo

There is a light band of some kind, top/center, in this photo. I'm new to DLSR photography and this forum, and trying to improve my photos. This photo was shot with Canon 20D/50mm EF f/1.ll in Walla Walla WA., at about 9:30am, three days ago. Lots of morning sunlight. The camera was set on auto. How would I either eliminate or adjust (soften?) in post-production? Or is this band something I didn't notice in the background-a twig maybe? I hope I posted this in the correct place. Thanks, Seamus

To let folk do a thorough review...if you would...re-upload the photo...this time "tick" the store original box. This allows for the larger photo to be analyzed properly.

There could have been something in the frame as you took the shot but really...this is so close to being unnoticeable...the fix wouldn't be worth it and might not look even this good.

if it were me...I'd vignette it to hide it and call it a day.

Thanks, I considered that trying to soften it might only make it worse. I'll try the vignette and see how that looks.

the new Lightroom beta has a new tool that does a "radial" effect...and you can use "exposure" as the effect so that the flower is brightest and the rest is darker...do you have lightroom?

No, I had the trial version, liked it, but at this time it's not in my (very tight) budget. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0, very old, but it's fun and I'm learning to use it. I found a free download of it months ago and thought, what the hell, and downloaded it. Rather than fix the light band, I'm much more interested in what caused it so I can avoid it in the future? Any ideas? Thanks

I'm thinking "twig close to the lens" or something....but truthfully...if it never happened before...I wouldn't given it even this much discussion and thought.

You're right. I'm nit-picking. But I'd like to know if there are any "Ghosts" in my technique/camera/lens etc. Here's the vignette photo. It looks pretty good.

Try your Burn tool on a another layer, or add another layer,
covert it to Color instead of Normal, sample the blue, use
the Paint brush tool at 20% opacity until you like it.
Hope your software can do this.

Thanks, first I'll have to learn what the hell all that is and how to use it.
