Moon Picture on a clear night with clouds around.

My Pictures keep showing a black background and I want it to show the clear sky with the clouds around It.

Most cameras lack the dynamic range necessary for this. The moon is very bright, illuminated by the sun, and the sky is very dark (even if your eyes can see detail there). Your best bet is to composite this, one exposure for the moon and one exposure for the sky.
Another option, which will take some experimenting, is to shoot the correct exposure for the sky, and then use a dark black object to block out the moon for part of the exposure. (Kinda like dodging/burning in a darkroom, only this is done in front of the lens.) A black glove might work well for this. Good luck.

Other option might be to shot at the correct exposure for the moon, then another with the correct exposure for the sky then merge them. Of course shoot on a tripod.

The moon exposure looks perfect. With the settings for that the background (space) will have to go very dark. Combining images with software will probably yield what you saw but the camera didn't. I saw a great half moon this morning and the light blue sky and moon would have blended perfectly. Guess what? Didn't have my equipment with me.

Thanks, I'll try the composite. I have Adobe 9.So I will play around with It and see what happens.

Shoot before it gets dark at twilight or earlier using the earth daylight "rule of thumb" - f16 @ ISO as shutter speed! This works for me! Check the other moon shooting reply that I just made for details!
