Three weeks abo I brought my "OLD" Tamron 17 50 2.8 in for a new rubber replacement on the focus ring, that's all. I got a call yesterday that the repair is going to be $195.00
I was told the entire lens is serviced, replace missing parts? I was not aware I had missing parts, calibrate the lens, yada yada yada. They will not just replace the rubber.
I told them this is like me taking my car in for an oil change and them trying to sell me a new motor. $400.00 more will get me the up graded lens, but I don't need the up grade. Very irritated, feel like I'm being taken for a ride. Any advice, there is a repair company in Wyandotte Michigan, half hour drive for me, maybe that is the way to go.

Wabbit, I got it resolved with the help of an honest and ethical person at no charge. Its a shame to have to go through so much drama to get satisfaction. Thanks for sending Bugs and Daffy to help, I could not have accomplished this issue without them.

More than welcome. We may have to play real loud though if we are to hear one another and timing might be a challenge but for the people halfway between it might sound good.

Is this Tamron repair or a local camera store that "repairs " lenses?

To the best of my knowledge, it was Tamron repair.

It's sad that things have come to this. I recently sent flowers to my Mom for Mother's day through FTD. I placed the order on Thursday. They were supposed to be delivered on Saturday. I called on Friday and Saturday to confirm delivery. FTD told me to call FedEx, FedEx told me to call FTD. By Tuesday, I finally got to talk to a real person instead of an automated voicemail. This woman told me that the local florist got inundated with orders and fell behind. Somehow, this didn't stop them from charging my card $51.00 for a dozen roses and a glass vase that didn't show up until two days late.

Well, you can't expect a florist to predict the future. How would they know that they would be busy for Mother's Day? :D

Okay we have a bass player a keyboardist/guitarist and a guitsrist/harmonica player/singer. Now we need a drummer or two and some horns and we can start the UHH Photo Symphonic Orchestra.

Well maybe, but I've used these same people for the last five years. All of sudden they can't deliver but they take my money anyway & then don't deliver. Instead of just refunding my money, they charge my card and then point fingers at each other rather making my Mom's day a special event. If they knew up front they couldn't deliver, they should have told me so when I placed the order THREE days advance. To charge $51.00 and have a no-show is just WRONG.
