I've really enjoyed following the UHH posts for the past couple of weeks. I'm a reborn photog after a hiatus of about 30 years. I last seriously pursued this interest with a Minolta 35mm Maxxium SLR but then life got in the way. I've jumped back in with both feet and a D7100. It's a steep learning curve going from P&S to DSLR but I'm about ready to move on from just "taking pictures". Here's a couple from my P&S era. Hopefully, as I spend time with the D7100 and the UHH blog, I'll make some needed improvement.
Sunning Turkey Buzzard
Stream at Glendalough Ireland
Parador at Rhonda Spain
talk about a back yard with a view! beautiful pictures.......
Welcome to the hog, and a nice set to start. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to the hog Eyesonly. Needed improvement? NAAAAAA. Your post is excellent, all three... you caught that turkey buzzard in a perfect pose. The stream screams at me to be using a rod and reel. And the Spain shot is awesome. I felt a little vertigo looking at the height. So, all in all, i would say you dont need that much if any, improvement.

Thank you Rich for the kind words. I'm hoping that the D7100 will help me use the light a little better. I generally know what and when to shoot but the finer details will always warrant critique. And there's always the "I wish I'd thought of/tried that". When you stop being your own worst critic growth stops and stagnation sets in.

I think you have great PS pics. I am now struggling with a new DSLR also. Love the parador pic. Ronda is one of the few places in the world I loved enough to go twice. Did you stay in the parador? I didn't have enough $$$...
Welcome. Charlie
On a ten day road trip around Andalusia, we stayed at 6 Paradors: Carmona, Cordoba, Granada (the Alhambra), Malaga, Rhonda and Arcos de la Frontera. We also stayed at Dos Hermanos in Seville. My wife passed away on April 6 and this trip was on her to-do list. We loved every minute of it. So much history and so many photo ops! We rented a car and drove ourselves so we really got to emerse ourselves in periphery of Spain. I think Ronda was my favorite.
