That only applies to the USA. Other countries are making guns also.

It's illegal to print them here but not in other countries. Even if you have the files. The plastic guns have been illegal for a long time because they can't be detected by airport security.

The files are available outside the US so terrorist have access to them. That will probably be the next attack.

There is all kinds of information on how to make bombs, kill people and outer disturbing stuff online. The criminals have secure websites to exchange info. I would post a link but can't find any right now. I will be looking.

When the plans were created and put online they were not illegal. Technology moves faster than Congress on any given day.

You are exactly right! What people fail to realize regarding this is that anyone with some degree of mechanical aptitude and a CAD program could conceivably, and easily, create similar printable files.

It's pretty much imposible to make the sharing of information illegal, such laws would directly violate the First Amendment, what can be enforced are laws which forbid the manufacture and distribution of such devices.

"Blue Prints" for many current firearms are available for the asking. There are several small gun shops that have the expertise to fabricate a complete firearm. Some folks may have watch on of the Discovery Channel offerings called American Guns in Colorado. That shop created a custom 1911 and revolver. In steel.

AS many have mentioned here, it would be far easier for a "terrorist" to obtain a modern weapon then to fabricate a single shot plastic zip gun.
