Was at a wedding yesterday on Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland and noticed this unknown soldier memorial which I hadn't noticed before, so took a few shots and gave it the HDR treatment.
Now have another shot for my war memorial collection (which isn't very extensive).
Cumbrae Memorial
Beautiful. It expresses the honor of service and darkness of war. Thank you. Mercer
Beautiful image and well composed! Love HDR, and this is an excellent example of why.

Still a way to go Jimande, but thank you for kind comments.
Nice image, How "actual" is the light or have much you been playing?

Hi GW
I used a tripod and shot five bracketed shots in raw as there was a big difference in the brightness in the sky V plaque on memorial.
The light was pretty overcast with the light changing fairly rapidly as dark clouds passed over in the high (bloody cold) wind.
Here is one of the average raw shots converted to JPG with minimal adjustments.
Now you can answer your own question.
I'd say It has had a fairly dramatic makeover.
I've since played around with this shot, straightened it and given it a slightly different feel.
Memorial
Beautifully Done...I really like this approach. It gives me the idea to do something like this for my father. His name is listed on the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Memorial in his hometown. Thanks for showing us a great piece of work.
Thanks for the info. No 1 hits my spot, its a very impressive image.

Cheers James. Nice to know it's inspired you to something along these lines with your dad's VFW memorial.
If you get a shot of it and you need any help please feel free to email me. (If possible try to shoot in Raw.)

Hi MagicFad
I use Photomatix Pro.
There are lots of HDR converter progs out there, including some freeware.
Good luck with it if you decide to dip your toes.

Hi carogray
Lots of really good HDR out there and much more total rubbish - just like regular pix really.
Looks to me as if there is a 50 / 50 love hate of it amongst togs.
Expand your horizons and give it a go.
Cheers
