Not sure if ok to repost something here, which was originally posted in the photo gallery, but I did receive a suggestion to do so. Moderator: if not OK, please delete.
This bobcat was lying between my bird feeder and birdbath when I got up a couple days ago.
Taken on a cloudy day, not much past dawn, so I had to really boost the ISO. Very noisy in the dark background that I cropped out. Picture was taken through the window.
Distance about 25 feet; Lens: Tamron EF 70-300mm, at 240mm
Camera Canon 60D; ISO 3200, 1/250, 5.6

Very nice image thanks for posting, not many of us get to see a Bobcat in England only the mechanical type.

Thanks Georgie. I spent three years in England (Cheltenham, in the lovely Cotswolds) many years ago....in the mid 1960s.

I have the same problem with a cat at my bird feeder. Between the cat and the hawk, I don't go through so much bird food. Great image of the Bobcat.

Hi Louie and Welcome to the Close up group. :-) One of the joys of UHH being a global site is that we are able to see what would be exceptional for us and probably just routine for you. I couldn't imagine waking up to find one of these in my garden..lol.. this is a lovely photograph so a big thankyou for posting here, hope to see more of your shots in the future :-)

Here is a little more info: The bobcat is an adaptable predator that inhabits wooded areas, as well as semidesert, urban edge, forest edges, and swampland environments. It persists in much of its original range, and populations are healthy. As you will know Britain has some incredibly beautiful areas but very little natural wildlife in comparison to other parts of the world..

Robbie: Thanks for the welcome. Many years ago I lived in Cheltenham, in the Cotswolds. A very beautiful area. During my tour there, my wife and I traveled to both Scotland and Wales, in addition to our local drives. It was a very enjoyable three years.
I well review some of my recent closeup, and see if any might be worthwhile for this forum.

Hi LouieP :) Years ago I lived in Bedford, nearby was the village of Cardington where the R101 airship was built, set back in the woods was the USAF base Chicksands. I had a very special American friend stationed there who was from San Antonio Texas, even to this day I wonder how he is getting on and still would love to see him again.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time here and the Cotswolds is as fine a place to be as most :) keep posting here its good to have you in the group..
