I found this forum recently and enjoy it so much I decided to join the group. I am definitely not a "pro", but have enjoyed photography for over 60 years. My wife and I have been retired since 2002. Love to travel, take pictures and be with people of all kinds. Always have my little Nikon Coolpix S6100 or the Pentax K2000 with me. Would appreciate any comments about my photos to help me improve them.

Good exposure, nice, sharp focus, straight and level too. 3 nice photos. I know 3 shots are a small sample but all three are centered, do you have any photos with the subjects off center?

Keep up the good work and post more soon.

Eric

Thanks Eric. Yes, I think I can find some with off center subjects.

I like these except that the subjects are all centered. Googl the 'rule of thirds' if you are not familiar with it. It is a guide to composition. It does not apply to all photos but does to many. All three of these would probably benefit from this.

Yes, I'm sure it was the sun. We only get one train per day here and it was already gone!

I love the country church photo. A straight on shot doesn't do it justice in my opinion. I would have taken a few steps to the left and shot it from a slight angle so you could see the side and the front and not so much the shed. Very nice photo.

Thanks Photogrl. Several people have suggested I should get the main subject off center. Guess at the time I was thinking more about framing the church between the trees, but will try your suggestion next time I am there and see how it looks.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mommy115. I'll try to keep that in mind more when I'm shooting. Guess I always like symmetrical things and need to broaden my perspective a little.
