I was driving on my very rural, country road when a squirrel darted in front of me, as they often do. I slowed down to make sure he got across the road. Then I stopped and grabbed my Nikon D5100 with a Nikon18-300 lens.
He stopped too... in a tree on the side of the road.
I rolled my window down and turned off the engine. I always carry my camera with me hoping for opportunities like this.
I swear that this squirrel was thanking me for not hitting him. He let me take some photos of him for a few minutes and then, with a flip of his tail, he was gone.
I used the open window for support, but hand held the camera. The camera was in auto mode.
"Thanks Lady. That was a close call."
I think he was smiling.
Beautifully sharp photo's Riverlass
I just love those opportunities! The last one is the perfect pose for showing off and it even looks like he is smiling at you! Cute!
Thanks Adicus and Sunnykaren, It was an opportunity that only secedes with a good camera and lens.
It does look like he's smiling, doesn't it? I like to think he was.
Does anyone know how to delete multiple replies? I, somehow got four "quote" replies posted. Didn't want that.
Very nice and I really like your attitude toward mother nature.

Thank you Pretender,
It's wise to have a conscious and protective attitude toward all creatures who live in the forest... because they are really the ones in control.
Very good Riverlass! I agree that he most assuredly was thanking you!
