Thanks for the comments! When it was so bright last Saturday, I just had to try and thought they came out quite nice!

They came out very nice! I have failed every time I try! What lens and settings did you use?

I had an SX40 and the lens are not interchangeable. I took similar shots on a tripod with auto settings as the light on the moon is mostly daylight brilliance.

Just using the awesome zoom on this camera. It is equivalent to a 24mm-1200mm (50x) plus up to 4x digital. I think the first one was at max optical zoom, the next one used about 2x digital making it about the equiv of 2400mm and the last one was about 4x digital making it approx 4800mm equiv.
I just used the basic Program settings. Might have dialed in a touch of under exposure.
Oh yeah, these were hand-held, didn't want to take the time to add a tripod.

And I don't feel I have mastered the telephoto part yet!! Gotta get the tripod out and start USING it!!
LOVE the "stitch assist" for creating panoramas too!! Makes it super easy!

  Nice shots. Looks like digital zoom has vastly improved in the bridge cameras. Thanks for showing.

Thanks Gene, the SX40 was the first digital camera I have had where the digital zoom was worth using and now I leave it turned on with my SX50 so it is available when I want it.
Thanks for looking.
Warhawk-- Do you shoot raw? Do you use Light room? If so, how do you get your pics into light room?
