On our weekend in Hobart in Tasmania a week ago, we were lucky enough to get some gorgeous cloud-filled skies. I know we're supposed to have that thing called the "rule of thirds" but with clouds and reflections like this, I kept wanting to ignore it. As they say, there is always an exception to the rule, I think these all qualify.

A beautiful photograph is beautiful because of it's composition, color and 'eye candy effect'
Rules of thirds could ruin some photos.
Just a thought

You're right ... rules were made to be broken.

Very nice series, number three does it for me.
Andrew: whenever I see a post from you, I know I'm going to be in for a treat. Second to taking/making images, I enjoy looking at fine images. No disappointment here. Number three is exquisite, with beautiful light. Compositionally, I might like to see more of what's on the left-- but then maybe it's something unattractive or detracting from the view. Anyway, kudos on another fine set.
When I look at photo 4, I try to visualize it with Photo 3's sunrise, which would make it a very nice photo.
I wasn't able to locate a map showing Huon River, Franklin, or Franklin.

LRF, thanks for the kind words. Regarding number three, just to the left was a horrible big ugly locked gate restricting access to part of the jetty, that's why it is composed as it is.

Gaylord, you're right would be a great place for a sunrise/sunset. Not there at the right time of day unfortunately, maybe next time?
