Can someone direct me to an article that explains how automatic focusing work, including using several focusing points?
I just attended a photography class. Do you mean how to use it or how the camera determines it? On my Nikon, when the shutter button is pressed partially, a green focus box comes up - the item the camera thinks you want it to focus in on. If you release and then press again multiple boxes will come up allowing you to add items into your picture focus. Make sure whatever you want is within one of those boxes and you are good to press the shutter all the way down. I hope I answered your question.
Automatic focusing normally takes the closest object and focuses on that. I normally take the center focus point and let that be my focus point. You can go into your menu and there is normally a way to set your focus points. I set my focus point to the center point and then press the shutter button half way down and then recompose the shot. I have been doing this for about 20 years and it has always worked for me.
PhoneGuy,
Thanks. This is exactly what I am looking for.
