Ok some of you may think that this is a little morbid. But I put my dad's ashes in there. He passed away just before Christmas. He worked for C & 0 for many years. He was also a Harley rider for most of his 81 years. For those who do not know a thing about Harley's. He is resting in an old oil tank from a Shovelhead Harley. The guy who did the air brushing did a great job. I think my Dad would be happy to know what he is in. And yes there was some oil residue. Nothing wrong with a little Harley oil on you. Heck I still have it pumping through my vines:) Always have had Harley in my life. :)

Sorry for your loss but I, for one, think this is a great tribute to your dad.

I think your dad would love it. Never had a Harley and have owned several motorcycles over the years.

Nothing morbid about it, my brother in laws final wishes are to be creamated and his ashes to be mixed with his beloved cocker spaniel's that passed years back .
There are places that will reload ones ashes into rifle or shot gun shells to be fired over certain locations they wished..
A friends sisters final wish was to be creamated and her brother to take her ashes on 1 final bike ride from the service.
I think your dad would be very pleased .

Not morbid, quite thoughtful. I never owned a Harley. I ride sport bikes, but I do get it.

I'm all for it! A considerate thing to do for him, and wherever he may be, I hope he can feel the wind on his face and the roar of the engine in his ears.

Thank you Treepusher. I am sure if he really had his way he would have been buried on a Harley. But this is the next best thing. I hope he will enjoy his new resting place.

Camshy: I think it was very creative of you and that your Father approves. Did your father KNOW you were going to do it? I will never look at another gas tank like that without thinking of you and your Father!

My brothers & Sister did something very personal like that for my Dad 9 years ago this month, but we told Dad what we wanted to do before hand and he only smiled and said "Your Mom and I will be looking down on you all and she will be pleased as well".

No, we never really talked about it. He lived in another state. I did know that he wanted to be cremated. The oil tank was my son's idea, so I just went with and had it done. I am sure my Dad would loved the idea.
Thank you for looking and your nice comments.
