We had 3 days at Grand Canyon south, spectacular - a dream come true. Got up super early to catch the sunrise, freezing cold wind blowing across the canyon but worth it.

We used to live in Tempe, AZ. Got to the canyon a couple of times a year. Never got enough of that place. Very nice image. #3 is my favorite.

The South Rim when the sun is setting is one of the greatest sights I have ever witnessed ... I remember that I had to be pulled away from the rail kicking and screaming ... Another Nice capture!!!

G'day, thanks for your interest. The most spectacular place I've even been, now I know what all the fuss is about. We had a beautiful elk hanging around in the Mather campground too.

We may have the views but you folks have the gold Nuggets .... if only maybe some day I have the metal detector it is a Minelab so I know that I am in good company.

We hired a metal detector many years ago and poked around Stieglitz in Victoria (old gold mining country). Got really excited at a signal and started digging frantically - old hand made nail from the pioneer days. Drat. Back to work.

I just swing and dig to find little if any thing at all and my detector cost about 4,000 dollars now on the other hand my wife has the cheepy detector hers is 150 or so dollars off of e-bay and the things she finds is amazing not worth a lot but they are things like Skeleton Keys all on a ring from back in the 20,s and other things like that maybe we will have to change who uses what detector.

Wow..you must have a lot of fun with those detectors. we know someone who bought his daughter a brand new Harley for her 21st purely with the proceeds of his gold panning so it's still out there. (That's here in Oz)

I belong to the GPAA and they tell a lot of stories about the big Nuggets And I have kept up with a man by the name of Chris Gould and he is the head of the Arizona Outback and he is the biggest of the dealers for Minelab which is made in Australia and he makes at least one trip that way a year. He has said that the gold that he recovers pays for the trip and then some. Now that gold is on the recovery of the back slide it made last week we will see if it pays that well now.

Yes surprising to see the slump in gold prices last week. Our main worry is another GFC. If that happens we won't be able to afford a visit to the supermarket let alone another US trip!
My husband and I haven't had much to do with gold prospecting but we had a lot of fun a few years ago looking for saphires. Theres a spot west of Emerald in Queensland with tiny towns called Anakie, Rubyvale and Saphire where you can go and camp in the bush and fossick to your hearts content.
