Hello everyone!
I keep reading about transferring photos from the camera to a computer vice taking out the card from the camera and loading the card into the computer. It makes sense to me that this could eventually wear out the card contacts in the camera. I have a Windows 7 system and have looked in the Camera instruction book w/o success seeking how to do this transfer. Any thoughts would help.

Don't understand the question
There are only three ways
1. As you have said and that is what I do
2. USB lead from camera to PC
3. WiFi card
Constantly plugging a usb lead into the camera can also bend the pins in that,
My preferred way is the USB from camera to PC never taking the card out of the camera. Windows 7 should 'wake up' when the camera is connected via the USB (and both are turned on of course). You can use Windows to drag pictures from the camera to the computer. Another and more automated method is to install and use the EOS Utility software that came along with your 60D. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions on the Canon software.
Okay, I've used the USB cable and although my computer is not automatically downloading from the camera I have been able to prompt Picasa to do the download.
Thank you for your reply.

Welcome seagull, is gradpa's really enjoy our pictures. I always use SD cards and actually keep them loaded as a backup for good events, I transfer them to my computers by sd card and the cloud takes ove and loads them on all three automatically . Nothing wrong with cable transfer either..
Enjoy and have fun.
Hi and welcome.
I have a 7D it uses compact flash and as I have had a bent pin in camera I try to eject the card as little as possible.
I connect a USB cable from the computer to the camera then switch on the camera this then opens canon EOS utility which allows me to download files to computer. From there I edit in Photoshop Elements. When you got your camera you should have got the Canon software disk (Includes DPP & EOS Utility). Downloading files cannot get any simpilar.
Welcome to the uuh forum and howdy from Houston!

I've been using external usb card readers for years. My camera's contacts apparently are still just fine and I've never lost a photo or video. Besides usb readers are cheap and they last a long time.

Im not sure about Windows 7 and how it works. I have an I-mac, i can open I-photo and download my pictures using a usb port right from the camera to the computer. Im sure if Apple has it Windows should also have the same capability. Good luck, and, oh welcome to the hog.
