Hi MJL :-) An interesting post, you either love barbed wire or hate it. The history of barbed wire is quite fascinating, it has been used for many reasons to serve many purposes. Its implementaion has caused wars and death not only to live stock but millions of humans too. It will always be a controversial product..No1 for me tfp :-)

have just seen these images I like the contrast between wood and iron. In the 2nd image the color of the rust against the steel grey is really nice and the twist and curves of the barb might look neat with your "in-camera" double exposure.
