Hi Guys! I am considering purchasing the latest version for Paint Shop Pro. I don't want Photoshop and I like some of the things PSP can do. I have an old version but it can't handle raw files. If anyone has the current version, could you share your thoughts with me? Thanks in advance.

Thanks JR1, I did look at reviews, but would rather hear from the folks as they can answer questions for me or explain in depth if there is something I don't understand. I really just need a program for making brochures, flyers, etc. to replace a really old program I have to give up. I do my photo editing in lightroom.

I have Microsoft Office, but have not seen Publisher listed in it's menu. I am not looking for just basic stuff, I'd like something with a little more options like the select tools, paintbrush, etc.
Does Microsoft offer that type of stuff?

You need MS "publisher"

BUT I use MS pub 2002

believe me you need to see it to believe it, I use it almost daily

Thanks so much, but I don't want to pay that much since I already have lightroom and several other programs. Your work looks spectacular. What I will be doing is mostly volunteer work I do for 3 different clubs.

I'm not saying you need/want it but believe me for importing images, desktop publishing it is superb

I have Paintshop Pro x4 and barely know 25% of it. Just bought a book to help - seemed a better way for me than the tutorials. As for Publisher, if you already have parts of MS Office, it should be cheaper to add Publisher than if you had nothing. I used it extensively for sales flyers - single sheets, not tri-folds - and liked it a lot. Just remember, it won't do any photo edits.

The only time MS Office comes with publisher included is with the Professional version at about $450.00 or so.

PS: It is fantastic to work with

I use PSP X5 and it works quite well for what I do. I've had a couple of crashes lately working with multi-layer files and it seems to hang on exit at times(actually working on undo data)

If you get the ultimate version, it comes with Nik Color Efex 3, which I love.

Thanks hmichel, is the learning curve as bad as Photoshop?
