Aussies in USA. Reflections...
The painted van we hired in Las Vegas for 3 weeks. We survived! Steering wheel on the other side...driving on the other side of the road...straight out in the midst of Las Vegas traffic heading north to St. George. Chopped the gutter badly once, but my husband did well (considering he's a dodgy driver here in Oz.) We were sad to say goodbye to our Escape van, 2000 miles later.
sunset near Bluff Utah.
reflection of casino in Lachlin Nevada
Our painted Escape hire van.
Most important-did the camera survive?? Looks like you got some cool shots! You should have practiced in a little country town first :)
Glad you made ok! Lots of folks ove r here cant drive anyway soI wouldnt worry too much about it.LOL That paint job looks like something form the 60s

Glad ya'll made it alright, you see why they call it an Escape Van!
I used to smoke pot in on of those...naw, just kidding. Looks like a fun trip and cool mode of transportion. Driving on the wrong side must have been thrilling. Folks here do that too every once in awhile. That's why there's so many "Wrong Way" and "Do Not Enter" signs all over the place.

Think they get on the wrong side of the road from staring through the bottom of a beer bottle.
Every day someone commented on the van, it was a lot of fun.
No pot, just Bud for us. Loved Utah but we got a heck of a shock when we found out we had to be over 40 (we shoed that one in), and show ID to buy beer there in Utah. Over 40...the drinking age here in Aus. is 18 - though most start around 12. Just kidding.

No chance of practicing first, it was straight out of the rental depot, straight into 6 lanes of traffic. Whew! I was a nervous wreck I can tell you.
Great story, great photos!

Heck I'm 66 and got to show I.D. in some walmart and target stores,I quit going to those stores though.Just plain stupid.
I feel your pain brother, Landed in Glasgow and had to drive to Edinburg. Very exiting drive!
Shifting with the left hand was surreal, and reverse rounabouts were a little edgy.
No one got so much as a scratch ( Thank God Almighty)
Glad you had a good time here in the States.!
