If the laws were tougher then those punk kids would think twice before doing something stupid. Giving them a wire brush and some Comet and make them totally remove the damage would surely cure the problem. But there goes our tax payer money to already budgets that are struggling.

The answer, short term, is public caning. Has proved remarkably effective in some countries.

I think snipers would work, too. You would only have to announce their deployment and I bet things would stop.

I love JT National Park! I like the idea of catching the little 'shitakes' and arming them with wire brushes and comet, then sending them back to clean up the mess. I think I would choose to have them complete their restorative efforts over the summer - a daily dose of 100+ degree temps would help ingrain the message.
