Help, Didn't have a filter with me when I took this shot. I can get the sky to look right or the water to look right but not both. Have aperture 3 but can't pull it off. I know this would be a good shot if adjusted right, Any takers. First photo original, second photo the best I can do.

Better than mine, looks like your on the right track, still lacking something. Doesn't really pop. Maybe can't be fixed.

I wasn't quite sure what look you were actually going for but I adjusted the contrast and vibrance in each section separately.

Thanks Photogrl. When I try to brighten everything the foliage looks over cooked, like to much saturation. I guess the shadows is what I'm shooting for, to bring them up and take the sky down. Should have taken a filter that day.

Thanks CSF, Now that's kinda different, liking the affect on that. I see you cropped some of the sky and water. I have better luck when I crop the sky and or the water, just can't bring the two together.

I don't know what editing software you use but in photoshop to do each section separately use the quick selection tool (in with the magic wand) just drag it over the area you want to adjust. Holding the alt you can subtract parts to refine the selection.
Sometimes the whole thing adjusted with the same settings doesn't help. Try to use vibrance instead of saturation also that selectively adjusts only certain colors.
More toys LOL.

Your edit looks fine on my monitor.
Perhaps it should hve been shot in landscape instead of portrait. I think that is your missing link.

Good light and great reflection.

When shooting an image of any kind I usually will shoot in several ways. Then I can choose what looks best. Or the trash and try again..lol

Hey GaleB, Wish I felt the same way about my edit, I just don't like it. I shot in Portrait to get depth, deleted my landscape view. Will get back that way next rainy season, and you just know the clouds won't be there, one of the reasons I like the shot, so I'd like to save this one from the trash bin, Until I get a better one, Hopefully, Thanks.
