During the mating/nesting period there are lots of challenges for nests and lady birds. The male on the left is protecting his "family" from a would-be intruder . . .
That'll teach him!

From this perspective, one of the few times I would opt for a protective filter on my lens !

I was warned before I left to see the Heron that I should NOT be shooting straight up :mrgreen: Also there was a big sign that said that it was not a safe place to park. :shock: I took these shots from a parking lot.
