This Eurasian Collared Dove landed on the branch and was trying, very hard, to get the food from the feeder. Problem was, the feeder was a bit out of comfortable reach and every time he reached for it, he'd lose his balance and start to fall.
He was able to grab some seed some of the time, so that was good, he certainly deserved it!
I'm only posting the starting position once, but every time he lost his balance, he went back to that starting position before his next attempt.
He tried about six times before the final shot posted here.
People should have that tenacity! good job!

Thanks Erv. :-)
I had put that branch in the fence a while back for the little birdies, but I hadn't seen this bird yet attempt to get into that feeder.
I'll make some adjustments tomorrow to help him/them out. :-)

Thanks rlaugh, happy they brought you a :D!
I have never seen a dove eating from a feeder. Mine are strictly ground feeder. Good captures, they are shy creatures and hard to photograph.

Thank you Farmers Wife. :-)
They generally eat the seed I throw on the ground, but on occasion I've seen them attempting to eat from the feeders. I have two of those wood house feeders and they're the ones they usually try to use. This was the first time for that particular feeder.
Appreciate you stopping to respond.

I can just imagine it. I guess that's the downside of having short legs.

Even one with long legs will come across instances of things being...out of reach.
Thanks for commenting Paul. :-)
