Thanks, for your kind comments.
The shot was taken from the dug out on the first base side of the field. The umpires control access to the field for the most part. Being able to shoot from on the field, preferably from down the first of third baselines. I have to depends on the umpires to permit me access, if they are willing they usually do with the caveat not to get hit by a line drive. If they umpire usually the home plate umpire controls access to being able to shoot from the field itself. If they don't want a photographer to shoot from the field their usual reply is well the GHSA< (Georgia High School Association) rules do not permit photographers to shoot from the field, and this is their way of saying I don't want you to shoot from the field, so I shoot from the best vantage points I can. The umpires claim it's a liability issue. This is a smoke and mirrors reply. I dare say that if the local paper's staff photographer was on scene they would allow access, of if I was from the biggie Sports Illustrated, or ESPN the magazine there would never be a question. Ok I now return your computer to normal programming.
I did the initial edit in Lightroom 4, and then cropped the image in PS5, the remainder of the edits and effects were done using Topaz Detail 2. In the Topaz Detail module I used the "Bold Detail" setting and adjusted the photo to get the effect, sized the image in PS5 and then saved the image.

Thanks. I'll say it again, reminds me of a Norman Rockwell drawing. I just recently bought the NIK package and don't have much experience with it yet. Don't have Topaz- hope NIK will do something similar.

Truly worthy of posting, and apropos to the opening of the season. Shot well done and like the rendition as a painting.

Thanks, again for kind comments. I ironically the high school baseball season is drawing to a close here. Most of the teams are in playoffs. In my way of thinking it is just now getting warm enough for baseball games. One game I shot a couple of weeks ago, when I got out of my truck it there were snow flurries, the temp was 31 degrees F, the wind speed was 25-35 mph.
I have seen the NIK software pkg and the complete edition on sale for the low price of $149,
Here is a link to the offer > http://www.niksoftware.com/nikcollection/usa/index.php?view=intro%2Fmain.shtml
