D80 Nikon. Take a lot of landscape pic. Need a wide angle lens of my dreams. You guys are the best for recommending stuff. Any suggestions?

Why do you believe a wide angle lems is necessary for successful landscape photos?

There was a recent exhaustive discurrion of that subject here on UHH.

Consider the AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR. You don't want to go too wide. If you do want to go wider, consider a general use lens like the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR.

So, what is the wide angle lens of your dreams? If you take a lot of landscapes you must have some idea of what you want/need. At what focal length do you take most of your landscapes? Are you looking for wider?, better quality? more creative? I could have suggestions if I new where you were coming from. Do you like zoom lenses? or primes? Help me out here.

Wise choice.
Ultrawides are a great lens for landscapes.
10mm is sooooooooo much wider than 17mm.

Best bang for buck for a Nikon D80.

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM f4-5.6
If you can find one of these second hand you may pay less than $200.

He didn't say that he thought a wide angle lens was necessary for successful landscape photos.
Why are you giving the OP a hard time for wanting a wider lens than he currently has?
The "recent exhaustive discussion" was full of some sane advice and a lot of opinionated dribble.

Well...not sure what your budget is...but the Samyang 14mm is an amazing budget lens. It's an amazingly sharp lens at a small price.

It's manual focus and manual aperture but for landscape...that's not a huge deal.

nikon had a promotion over christmas giving away the 24-85 with the purchase of the d600. some who bought the camera put the lens on ebay or craigs list. i found one new in the box for 350 and it's a great lens.

It seems you are seeing an array of lenses so let me add my 2 cents worth. I recently picked up a Nikon 12-24 2.8 and love it for my D7000. NO distortion and very crisp lens.

It depends on what you want to photograph, some times I use the Tokina 10-17, Tamron 17-35 or my 70-200., All are great landscape lenses
