Hello, I am new to the Ugly Hedgehog

I am 70 years old, and I took to photography as a hobby about two years ago. I like to photograph landscapes and flowers mostly. I started with a Nikon D90, and I have a handful of Sony NEX cameras, the 7, 5N, and lastly the 3N. I have glass for all of these, some wide zooms, wide primes, telephoto zooms, etc. I have experimented with the Gigapan panorama platform, and such for panoramic landscapes. I enjoy variety of subjects and the tools to photograph them. The lake pictures are not retouched, only corrected with DxO for distortion. The rose was sharpened in Photoshop Elements 11.

Thank you...I will explore the site and look at the work of others. Then maybe I will know what questions to ask about what I can do to improve my photos.

Welcome to the HOG PKNoper.
Your two landscapes are good compositions, but would benefit even more with the use of a graduated filter to tone down the sky area.
The rose has excellent definition and is a good composition.

Thanks for the tip about grad filters...I have since purchased some to experiment with. I was on a bus tour of the Canadian Rockies when I took this and other landscapes. I could have use the grad filters to great advantage in trying to photograph these and other snow covered mountains. I will do better next time.
