I am considering the Sony NEX7 and wonder who has one and what results you are receiving.

Did think about one but decided that the Sony RX100 was more versatile in its way. However its very small and if I were buying I would look at the Panasonic Lunix LX7 - reasonable price, light and capable of excellent results.

Michaele, check out the Nikon 1 V1 before you buy. I have been researching it, with the help of someone on this forum, and really like what I have found.

The LX7 can't change lenses. The sony is a good camera but consider the Olympus Om -d em-5 or EPL-5.

Hello.

I see that you aren't getting many (any?) replies from NEX-7 owners.
I am a very happy owner of a NEX-7 and 3 Sony lenses. There are a
lot of options and features on competetive cameras these days and I assume that
you have done some considerable (and somewhat frustating) research
on them. The NEX-7 was by far MY best option IMHO. I actually traded
in my Nikon D7000 and 3 lenses for this camera!
Please, before I get blasted from the Nikon crowd...I loved that camera
and lens combination; hated to get rid of that kit. But I could no
longer carry around the load. I am still very fortunate to be able
to travel quite a lot but going between planes, taxies, buses, subways,
ships etc. was actually getting dangerous for me with all the gear.
So, in short, I went with what I considered the very best light set of gear.
Haven't looked back.
I would offer some specific pointers to perhaps
help your decision but it would use too much random-use bandwidth, so if you
have some questions please PM me and I'll try to answer them soon.
Meanwhile good luck!
Cheers, Scalawag

I own the Nex7 with the Eiss 24mm lens. I love it. It's small, light, and takes great photos.

Sorry for the delay. My lenses are all Sony.
a. 3.5-5.6/18-55 A slow lens but a good starter
which I use for multi-purpose occasions.
b SEL16F2.8 A good wide angle, but I amost always
keep the Sony Ultra Wide Converter attached for about
a 12mm angle. Worth the modest extra cost, I think.
c. SEL55-210 4.5-6.3/55-210 Also a slow lens
but adequate for my puropses for now.

I don't find much use for the longer stretch of the tele.
I mainly use it for street photos in metro/urban areas and
then usually only up to 120mm. Good, longer teles (say
up to 200mm and longer) are quite expensive. If you
are not sure about one you might skip this cheaper one
for now. I will probably go for an approximate 70-120mm
in the future.

There are good, expensive lenses out there; a few Sony and
several third party. I think that all fairly modern Minolta
lenses work on the NEX-7 plus there are Tamron and Sigma
afordable lenses for the NEX-7
I am happy with the ones I have but will upgrade whenever
I get a chance.

Beware of lens lust!

By the way, welcome to UHH! You will find a lot of help here.
Particularly I recommend using the little (tiny?)
"search" item in the menu at the top. Most questions
will be answered in great depth there. Note that there
are several really expert regulars on this site. And many
of these have posted thousands of times and if
you just randomly read some of their posts you will see
how helpful they are.

Please let me know your decision on the NEX-7 and any
other questions you might have.

Enjoy!
