India - Butterfly - Common Mormon - Courting ritual - May the better man....
Amazing! Consider myself lucky that I managed to capture this sequence of images of the mating ritual of the Common Mormon.
The female (with red) led the two suitors on until one of them finally gave up (from exhaustion I assume) then permitted the remaining male to make his advances.
Sorry it is a rather long sequence and some of the images are soft, conditions were not the best since the vegetation where this was captured was rather dense.
Happy with what I got, but please feel free with any critique.
The Common Mormon (Papilio polytes) is a common species of swallowtail butterfly widely distributed across Asia. This butterfly is known for the mimicry displayed by the numerous forms of its females which mimic inedible Red-bodied Swallowtails, such as the Common Rose and the Crimson Rose.

Thank you Angler. Wonder though if have you seen the whole sequence of 16 images? I saw your response while I was still uploading.
Appreciate your visits to my posts, always. Cheers!
