A few weeks ago I went on a tour to a ranch that rescues horses and has been doing it since the 80's. Many of the horses were abused or had been hard workers for the mounted police. The farm is called Mill Creek Farm in it is in Alachua, Fl pretty close to Gainsville. The husband and wife team are both in their late 80's and still going strong. The farm is only opened on Saturdays' and the price to get in is 2 carrots. They have many volunteers that come and help out.
I see what you have
Just an eager one looking for a carrot
tour person feeding the horse

That is just too sweet. It never ceases to amaze me that so many people can abuse animals. The anger in them must be great.

Very nice CJartist, love the story also
This is so special! I would love to go there! Beautiful horses and I don't understand how any helpless animal can be abused. Breaks my heart and thanks to this very special couple! Thanks for sharing this, if I am ever in this area I will visit!

It is a blessing when there are people like the couple who take care of them. There were some blind horses there also and they also came from the field to get a carrot or two.

Gregory glad you loved the story , these are very caring people. The elderly man in the first photo was the owner and he was full of Information, about he and his wife and the volunteers that come and help during the week. They now have about 100 horses down from their earlier years.
Thank you Lacey Girl, Rlaugh and Jeanbug for your comments.
What wonderful people. I don't understand how anyone could hurt any living thing. Thank you for the pictures .
Nice photos, and what a great place for the horses. At least they finally have something good in their lives.
Great photos and a great story to go with them.
Yes, it is hard to believe that their are people who are cruel but they are out there, Thanks for looking and commenting Puglover, Treepusher, guts and Paul B
Really nice pictures, CJ, and what a story! I've often wished that I could do something like they're doing! Good for them!! The horses remind me of my dearly departed friend Nickleby.
