Some local Sandhills....next year I hope to find some still nesting.
The first two pics caught me totally off guard, I was taking pics of ducks and great blue herons, when I excused myself for a nature call... :mrgreen: and came upon these two doing a mating dance. They were so funny, I almost forgot to take pics. One would pick up a stick, toss it in the air and try and catch it!!

Some times it is really hard to remember to take pictures, I think you did a nice job of recovering and grabbed a few images.

Great pics! Wondering what kind of camera/lense you were using. How close were you actually?

I was using my Canon T1i with a sigma 170-500mm lens. I was pretty close to these birds though. On the first two I actually had to back up, they were so into each other they just didn't care about me. LOL...they were all over the place, I attached a photo below where you can see they were in a very accessible place...it's just a horrible background! LOL..But if you look closely on this one, you can see the bird on the right just tossed a stick up in the air.
The other pics with the babies were taken on the side of a VERY busy road...that was my car pulled off the road...
