I have a lens that says: Nikon DX, AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm 1:4-5.6G. What does that mean exactly (I know what Nikon means)....I mean 1:4-55.6G and what is this best used for, other than everything....I know, I know - she has no idea what she's doing. I have advanced past 'auto,' though.....

It looks ridiculous, doesnt it? All those numbers letters mean something, but it's not at all obvious. Take a look at the link below.
