Why participate if you find it so? Just skip the topic... but you just can't resist.

The way the media covered the news of a new Pope and the fact the "bookies" had betting lines on who it would be leaves me with one question. Who cares? Sounds more like the Super Bowl. Being what's best described as agnostic it will have no effect on my life whatsoever. And even if I were Catholic I still don't know why it matters. Maybe someone can explain it. Keep it simple since I have ATD or something like that. Basically I get bored really fast and don't need to know the entire history of Christianity or Catholicism. This is a simple question and I'm looking for a simple answer. I'll ask again. "What difference does it make who the Pope is."

I agree in that it doesn't make a difference which guy wears the biggest funny hat. They all adhere to an outdated dogma so it really makes no difference who the Pope is or was. Once he is Pope he tows the line and continues the psychosis that is the Catholic religion.

Ha ha ha, good going guys, it seems you guys in the USA are not happy unless you have something to moan and whinge about! If it's not Gun Law, and the right to own a gun!! it's that nice Mr Obama, your lovely President who the majority of you voted in AGAIN!! and now it's the new Pope!! What will it be next week??
We in the Uk have the same problems as you with politics and the like, but try to keep it to ourselves, after all this is a photography forum.
I know this is in the ' chit chat, non photography' section, so you don't have to tell me that again, but it used to be an amusing section with jokes and humour from guys like Sarge69 and many other of you guys like him with your daily humour to brighten up the day. Perhaps Admin could start a new forum for Gun Lovers and Obama Haters, or do we like the new Pope forum? I am sure it would fill quite a few pages a day. Or.. we could have a Cameron Haters section, where every member from the UK could have a moan and whinge about him,
So, come on WABBIT and all of your band of followers, have a go at this and let's have another laugh, or shall we all just keep it to photography were people like myself who are new to photography, can learn from the many proffessional and experianced guys and gals from all corners of the universe who are willing to help and share the experiances on this site?
Now let's see who is first to respond to this??

Well Robby old chap. Why not stick to the General Photography section and stay out of General Chit-chat since it clearly states it is an area for discussion of non-photographic items. Would you like me to translate that into English for you?

If any of you knew anything about the Jesuits, you would realized that the Roman Catholic Church has just elected a terroist to be their new Pope. The pledge that every Jesuit has to take in order to be a Jesuit, mirrors the pledge that the SS had to make to Hitler. In brief do whatever it takes to push foreward your agenda, including murdering women, children and anyone else that gets in the way. I really feel sorry for the Catholics, for they ae beihg lead down the road to hell and they don't even know it.

As far as the libs in this country are concerned you are correct. The new Pope is firmly against gay marriage, abortion and expects Catholics to adhere to old-fashioned family values. He sounds like a total nightmare to me.

I really wish I had never started this thread. My mantra now is "Nothing about religion, Nothing about religion, Nothing about religion". I'll just go back to why Canon is superior to Nikon. It's less controversial.

I was referring to the Canon vs Nikon thing. We are most likely on the same side of that discussion. Although I own both so it could be interesting.

Interesting - I read 95% of the posts. Quite a few way off target rants. Most tried to take Pounder down for being anti something and I am sure many did not even care anti what.

Seems like only one or maybe two responded directly to the question - is there a difference between A and B or even C. Most of the cardinals will support the traditional doctrine. In a sense they must.

Where there may be a difference is how they handle the politics of the church (and there is a lot) and the way they govern it. Stronger stance on breaking vows? Be it sex issues, fiscal improprieties, or some lesser discretion. It is these areas that the 'leader' can and should have influence and the capabilities of B may be greater/stronger than those of C.

Most of the rest of the discussions were, IMHO, people venting about other things they needed to get off their chests.

Pounder - you started a lively discussion, with a simple question, misunderstood by most.

Thanks for your opinion. It was an honest question and not meant to be a negative comment on Catholicism. Yes I was misunderstood but I don't have a gift for wording things properly. I'm more of a tech guy than a word guy. I have a reputation here (deserved) for stirring up controversy just to see the results. But that was not my intention on this thread. It has been entertaining and enlightening to see the so called forgiving souls just slam me to the mat without a real answer to the question.

I missed that at first but after reading your post again I caught on. I'm the same in a sense. I've owned both but having two different systems doesn't make sense. I started with Canon then went with Nikon and am now back with Canon. The equipment doesn't really matter. Your Porsche 911 may beat me to the first turn but I can handle the curves better in a BMW. Who cares? Cameras are just a tool.
