A fellow Hogger provided the opinion, being, "it is possible that Ken Rockwell is a less than reliable source of consistent information". I suspect that there might be a number of newbies who may have visited KR's site seeking meaningful information in order to assist in making a decision on an intended purchase. Your assertions on the above statement may be of interest to them and to other members.
Ken Rockwell tells it as he sees it and he has no brand allegiance. He also changes his mind and says so. However, I am not personally comfortable with a guy who appeals for contributions to raise his "ever growing" family, yet can purchase a $2000 camera for evaluation and then give it away to a charity, however worthy that charity may be.
he also recommends equipment he has never touched. Which is what puts me off about his realiable.
Personally I love the guy. People Love to Hate him, it's hilarious. They bad mouth his reviews but read them, I don't get it. In every purchased I've made I've gone to him for advise and so far has been Spot on. I also use the sites he suggest to purchase from, so if not happy with item I can return. He turned me onto the D7000, the Nikon 70-300mm VR, the tokina 100mm Macro lens, Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson and many other Great books that help me to see the real picture. He's not affiliated with any manufacturer and can call it like it his. He's not afraid to change his opinion on the best camera out there. If something better comes along he can then recommend a purchase in that direction. I no longer carry a camera bag, One lens for that walk or entire day, I am forced into learning the lens to get the shot in front of me. One step forward, one step back, to easy.. Simply, easy, funny read. No nonsense, just get out there and Shoot. He's getting rich doing his dream job, my hats off to the man.
I would trust His judgement, knowledge, before I relied on the opinions of this site or others. Talk about giving reviews without testing the product..........
Has he ever evaluated any "bridge camera"?

People tend to get a little wacky when talking about KW. Hey I read is website and enjoy his views but I disagree with what he writes from time to time. His site is meant to entertain as well as inform. Just always keep an open mind and check several sources when researching camera information.

I have to agree with Opus..."keep an open mind and check several sources"...a review is just that....a review.

I agree whole-heartedly. I ALWAYS go to him to see what he has to say about any given product. I have yet to have any major disagreement with what he has to say. This isn't to say that he is the only source of information to which I turn, but I always go there first for a proper perspective.
Oh, and yes, I drop a ten in the bucket from time to time. He's worth every penny.
ken's site is based on his own opinions.
I found that when i am looking for something or want someones opinion or experience.....I do 2 things...
1. there's a few pros on this forum that I will PM to ask their opinion.
2. I rent the piece first or buy it from a store that has a 30 day return policy.
I can find bad reviews on any piece of equipment.
I just don't read them.
Now getting to the main point. I have equipment that i would recommend highly from my own use.....and 50% would tell me what i have is substandard to the brand or what they use.
You have to take reviews with a grain of salt.
Overall, i think ken rockwell does a pretty good job and probably has helped lots of photographers or beginning photographers make buying decisions.
I know one thing, i have a friend that has a canon rebel XT with a kit lens that takes the most awesome photos. he hates computers so there's never any post processing. he got the light thing down and has a great eye. it would probably be hard to find a good review on the rebel xt and kit lens....
I like KW. he's helpfull on the D7000 and I always read him.
I've also found his comparisons with older products extremely useful. When I was shopping for a used 80-210 (or variants) 2.8 lens he had a great comparison of the history in the Nikon lenses with details of how each lens was different along with pros/cons of various features as he saw it.
Another resource I really enjoy is
http://www.froknowsphoto.com though he isn't as "family" oriented as Ken is... e.g. some content may not be appropriate for young children...

"Consistent" is the key word there. "This is the best camera in the world." Next week, "Now
this is the best camera in the world."
Ken has to keep turning out copy and opinions so people will continue reading and clicking on his sponsors' sites. He has lots of good, solid photographic info, but you have to use your own judgement and other online resources, as well.

He loves the camera in the iPhone 5.
