new from KY snapshot or photgraph?
I have learned so much from you guys. Some of you have amazing eyes and can look at a pic and quickly make it better. I'm so envious! Please take a look at my pics and tell me how to make them better. I did some minor pp in Lightroom. Just learning. Please advise on color, composition, subject, etc.
Thanks!
Okay, people. 57 of you have looked and no comments? Are they that bad? I'm a big girl,I can take it. I'm just trying to get better. Thanks:)

I'm not a pro, so I'm speaking from an amateur's standpoint. The colors in #1 appear too vivid, (too much saturation?), and it seems to be tilted somewhat. #2 is just not interesting to me..the boat is too centered. Maybe if the photo was shot from a different perspective? Seems cluttered, hard to focus on the subject matter. #3 is just not interesting, again, maybe shot from a different angle would be better? Just my opinions. We're all learning here.
Hey David,
Thanks so much for your reply! I'll have to check the saturation on the first one. The sunset really was intense. Didn't even see the tilt! The second one is cluttered and I don't know how to Photoshop yet.
You are right, we are here to learn. Having someone else's perspective makes such a difference.
Thanks for stepping up and being brave and honest!
What David said. Keep em coming & a big Welcome to the forum.
Thanks, Steve. I'm really learning from this forum. I'm still struggling with seeing what needs to be done to my pics. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow ! I love the first..!!

Not so fast.... I have many before sunrise pics that are that vivid. (no saturated fats)
Actually Greg, it was a sunset. I think all I really did to it was up the yellow a little so the sun would shine through the trees a little more. As I said before, I'm new to Lightroom and unfortunately have "lost" the original in there somewhere. It's still on my SD card so I can retrieve from there.
It does look a little oversaturated to me now. On my monitor it looked perfect until I uploaded it to this site. I definitely need to go back to it again.
Thanks for your comment!
I love the first one........the last not so much,to me it has no subject.....nothing to draw the eye in.
I like the first capture even with the intense colors. It would lose my interest without the color. Two and three are a start, but the sky is blown out in both. Some days are just better for shooting. You might want to invest in a circular polarizing lens. Or take pictures of an intense sky, save in a file and combine photos when the sky is less than ideal. Hugs, Kaye
David. I am not sure how you would say the sunset shot is tilted as there is no horizon to judge a horizontal line by or even a building to judge a vertical by.
#2 is extremely interesting to me as there is so much detail in this old shrimp boat. Having been born and raised in Cornwall UK, close to the ocean, I am used to a very different style of fishing boat and am always fascinated by boats from other countries but although I live in the USA I am in S.Central Illinois and the nearest thing to a fsihing boat I see is a Jonboat on the nearby Misissippi River.
#3 is again of interest as there are no harbors in the UK with this type of ramshakle pole construction and I can spend quite a while examining it in detail.
Now having said all that I will admit to having zilch interest in a close up of a flower image. I have to have a story in an image to hold my attention for more than a few seconds and I am still looking at yours Julie. Show me more!
Thanks, Kay. #2 and #3 were not good shots. I was going for sunset pics and there was absolutely nothing that evening. It got dark quickly and I was really rushed. I'm going to have to go back and try again. I really was trying to see what I could do with Lightroom. Oddly enough, they looked much better on my monitor than when I posted them. As soon as I did, I knew, nah, not so much! LOL It's great having other points of view. Thanks again!
Cornishpete, I'm not giving up on the area. I'm going to have to go back and try again. I think I'll do early morning next time. Thanks for your comments!
