Linux printing looks like color reversal?

New Canon PRO9000. Prints look like the monitor in WINXP. In Linux it looks something like color reversal but not really. One photo is a yellow Cub. The brightest yellow is yellow. The less bright is more like magenta. Shadows are darker than the surrounding area. I had a setup choice of RBG or CYM or CYMK. I took RGB. Any comments and or suggestions.

Canon does not seem to offer any Linux drivers. Bummer.

What driver are you using?

I have a Brother Scanner/Fax/Printer that they were nice enough to have Linux drivers for and have not had a problem, once I finally got the driver properly installed. (I use OpenSuSE)

What ever self installed. I have always had printer problems. The software changes faster than I do. How do I find out what driver is being used? Is RGB the correct choice over CMY or CMYK?

Hard to say. Try CMYK if RGB sucks. On OpenSUSE I go to Yast and look at printer drivers there. What flavor of Linux are you using?

See if you can find a place to play with ICM files. When I choose my color printer, I get a few more tabs on my print dialog. You might find some settings to mess with.

I am running Fedora 18. I am going to try both the others later today. I think Yast may be something like yum.
Thanks for the suggestions.

It's been a while since I have run Fedora. I think it was 12. Yast is a graphical interface for zypper, the yum equivalent. I went with OpenSUSE and KDE because it works for me.

When I go looking at available printer drivers for Canon, it lists 2 for the PIXMA Pro9000. Both use CUPS+Gutenberg 5.2.7. One calls itself "Simplified" the other does not. You might want to look around and see what is available.

There are independent drivers for many Canon printers. I'm a Linux user and found a driver for my Canon MX310. Keep searching Google..

I found a German Program called TurboPrint that prints on my system. I have a demo downloaded and will buy after more extensive testing. Thanks for the support and suggestions. By installing another Pro9000 on the Cups printer list I am able to print a test print page but not my pictures. The TurboPrint allows any I have tried so far.

OK, the Turbo Print works quite well but it's not free.

Its cheap enough at $37. Having it print in Linux is great. I did go to the Canon Europe site and for the PRO9000 only Mac and WIN. I think they started doing Linux then quit. The CUPS software is not very stable and never has been. My current Laser printer needs an extra driver to make the CUPS driver work. A Panasonic XP1180 was the only easy Linux printer I have ever had. I have a scanner that Linux will not control also.
