P510 is a point and shoot. Look at Canon sx50. It is sharper and faster focusing

The Cool Pix P-520 does have an electronic view finder
I think it would make a fine bridge camera

I got one to use as a small walk about camera. It has, basically all one might need for traveling. It has a viewfinder, a large 3 inch LCD screen that moves up and down but not like a flip out such as Canon - which is smaller. The 42X zoom - to 35mm equvalent looks good (Canon is a tad longer to 35mm equivalent 1200 but both work best on tripod.

Missing: Hot shoe, Screw-in filter capability,

So far I like it. Image quality is satisfactory.

I love my Nikon P510.

Do a search on ' vietnam - day '

and see photos taken in my recent trip to vietnam using my P510.

Plus the SX50 has hot shoe, remote release capability and will shoot RAW, RAW+JPG or just JPG.

I think both cameras mentioned are 'Bridge Cameras' not point and shoot.

Wife has one and loves it. Publishable quality shots are routine especially from around mid zoom down in good light. Low light tele shots show plenty of noise but most is easily fixed in Lightroom. If 100% crops are your game this camera like most in its class fails badly. In other words pixel peepers beware, but good using qood technique, in good light she has been able to get some shot past the PP Police and into stock lists. Raw for sure would be nice but not something she can't live with...The electronic viewfinder is however worthless...over and out...ChuckR

This is a very good bridge camera .I use it when ever I find my Sony A77 to heavy to carry. I get excellent pictures with it even at 1000 mm.

When you get some of those loooooong telephoto shots, brace yourself or use a tripod for best results.

Low light shots are spectacular
