Here are a couple of pictures of Bald Eagles I shot yesterday afternoon. He was sitting on top of a "Cell Phone Tower" wher they have a nest.

I shot him, or her with my new Sigma 150-500mm lens. The lens was extened to 500mm, and hand held. AV F10 1/320

   Beautiful captures, Ken! You have the right camera/lens combo for this kind of work.

What you have is a female. Its easiest to tell when both eagles are together, she's the larger. But its difficult unless you have powerful optics or take a profile pic like your first one. The corner of the mouth of the female extends beyond the vertical center of the eye, while the male's doesn't. Naturally, when they're mating, there is no doubt which is which. :)

Thanks for showing. -- Gene

Gene. Thanks. I have often wondered which was which. Now I will know if I am shooting a male/female.
