Can I use photoshop lightroom using Photoshop Elements 11? When my computer crashed I lost my Photoshop cs5 and they want to charge me to reinstall it, so my thinking is to get Photoshop Elements.

Lightroom and Elements 11 work together seamlessly.

Who wants to charge you? Do you still have the license number and the disc? Even if you got it on line, if you have the license number, there should not be a charge. Are you having a 3rd party install it?

This is my fault I let my granddaughter put it on her computer as well and she can't find the box or install disk. Adobe wants to charge me again but I thought I would hold off in buying the full version and use Photoshop Elements until I can afford to re-buy the full version. I got everything back on my computer except for Photoshop cs5.

Adobe keeps a record of the serial # and you are allowed to install the Adobe products on up to two machines. They shouldn't charge you for the serial # and I think CS5 is still available for download.

I wouldn't think this should be a problem as Adobe keeps records of all purchases but if it is??

LR and Elements work very well together. Many, myself included, only use these two programs. I consider them the poor mans CS. These two programs will do MOST anything that CS will do. Many professionals only use these programs because of the cost of CS.

You may find after using these two programs you do not need CS at all, especially sense you are going to be getting the newest versions of these two.

If your purchase was legit I dont understand why you cant reload it unless you have it on two other machines or is a previous version to CS5.

Call Adobe. I had the same problem last year and bought a new computer. Adobe said I had the program on two machines and could not download CS-5 again. I called and explained the issue of a dead hard drive and a new PC and they sent me the down load code immediately and were most gracious.

You could always try GIMP.

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a free alternative to Photoshop. It works just as well, I think.

GIMP is fine but would be a major step down from CS-5.
