While on that Honor Flight with Dad of course we visited Arlington Cemetary. While there we witnessed....

.... the changing of the Guard which happens every 30 minutes....

.... at the memorial and Tomb of the Unknown.

(Download)

It was a very moving experience to bear witness to all who gave all.....Unbelievable.

Very close to the tomb of the unknown is the burial site of the most decorated soldier in WWII. He became an actor after the war and became famous for that as well.

All beautiful posts y'all. You can't go wrong recording flags and memorials from around the world. I was very lucky once to escort my Dad, a Marine from WWII, on an Honor Flight from Kansas City to our Nation's Capitol where we got bussed around to all manner of memorials. Turned out that he was the oldest Veteran on that particular group of WWII and Korean War veterans. I can only say it was a very special day in my life.

The flag hanging in National AP welcomed us to DC.

The bus from the AP passed by the Jefferson Memorial and you can see the Washington Monument in the distance. Of course the bus was going faster than my shutter!

(Download)

Of course our first stop was the relatively new WWII memorial. We entered the memorial from the Pacific Theater entry.

(Download)

The European Theater entry was across on the other side of the memorial. There were vertical pilars representing every state and territory that veterans who served were from.

P5- Thanks for sharing again Larry! I counted 11 cranes in your last.

I appreciate your looking and kind words.

I thought that too, and then I found another one so I think the number is twelve😏🔨🕰️

Here are a few to get this started.

Nice start here, Vaun. I especially like the second one, .... you know me and dead wood in nature.

There is a lot of interstate and expressway construction going on around town expecially here on the North side of SA. I went out this past week to capture some of the activity at the interchange of loop 1604 and I10.

I really like that they use a form liner to give an interesting look to the columns and not just plain smooth grey concrete.

(Download)

The lone star in relief at the ends of all the beams is good too.

(Download)

This 4 shot panorama shows a couple of the entrance and exit ramps into and from the interchange.

(Download)

This panorama was to show there will be flyovers over flyovers and then some. Crane rental companies are making good money here. How many do you count?

Thanks for another good challenge, Joe. Really appreciate your participation here in our little part of the UHH posts.

These will be my last pointy things I've come across.

I saw this pointy bayonet on the statue at the Korean War Memorial.

All those cannon placements are Pointing out towards us as we approached Ft Sumpter by boat one day.

On a lighter note citrus fruits have pointy sections all pointing to the middle of the fruit. It's happy hour you know!!

More good pointy things to view, thanks to all who shared with us.

I found a few more.

Pointy things on a wire fence keep things out of the blue bonnet field.

Some posts can't turn loose of their pointy friends even when they go down for the count!

Some pickets on a rot iron fence display elaborate points.

These antlers got some pointy spikes on them!

He took a long look at me before dipping his pointy beak in the nectar!

Points well taken, y'all, I've enjoyed all your posts. Most all of them were to the point for sure
I'll share a few more here.

This pointed tool gets used every morning to record solutions to the morning puzzles.

This pointed tool gets used when ever a bottle gets empty.

The points on this tool sever wood very efficiently!!

I am posting this Challenge on Sunday because when I reach my Indiana place then, my cell phone internet is often "iffy" or sporadic. This weeks challenge is about POINTY. Pointy for me? It's many things. First, I will post some beauties to start you off. But since I feel so close emotionally and photographically to flowers and plants, I will add to a selection of gorgeous Spring flower/plant leaves, from about ten days ago, as the week moves on.

Enjoy yourself - even though you were told as a child that it’s not polite to point!

Great start, Joe, Thanks for hosting another challenge, and you've made your point!
I'll try some pointy plants first then we'll see where it goes from there.

I saw this one walking in a local park once.

We grew this on in our back yard.

On the other hand stay away from our prickly pears. They are very sharp pointy things that hurt a lot!!!

Thanks for comments on my few shots here. A little over a week ago we were in Austin for our grandson's UT graduation.

Our daughter and son-in-law are pretty proud parents. He's even got a job already, and that makes them even more proud. Hint, hint, he'll be moving out!

Thanks for another FreeSunday, Vaun.

I like old weathered stumps and/or logs.

Studying it close and turning it this way and that....

...you can make out things like a bird on the back of a big horn sheep...or maybe a mule deer. Ok maybe a pig!

Alright to the back of the bus!!!
