Why dead? That's so sad.

Most of them are trees that fell during winter storms. The first pic is of a forest in North Cascades Nat'l. Pk. that burned during the summer of 2015. As that pic was taken several years ago, there is probably now a whole new forest rising from the ashes.

The Hoh River (Olympic NP). You could also sit and catch your limit of trout there.

The A-10s you caught (with tail-flash "DM") are from Davis-Monthan AFB, near Tucson, AZ. DM is the Air Force's training base for new 'hog pilots. I trained in F-4s there last century.

Looks like the bridge is undergoing some renovation.

The name was given by Captain George Vancouver who was exploring the region to find a passage that could link the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic. After sailing nearly 50 miles down the east side of Whidbey Island, he realized he had been deceived.

If you're referring to the Tonight Show Band, he replaced Skitch Henderson as Johnny's band leader in the mid-60s. Other hosts on the Tonight Show (Paar, Leno, etc.) had different band leaders, but Doc was always the best. His playing was/is spectacular; he hit the highest notes possible with ease.

Disney bought NatGeo a while back, mostly because they wanted the film/video library. I doubt if they gave more than a couple minutes' thought to the mag, except to find ways to reduce the cost of publication.

I agree about "capture." Someone here recently said it's appropriate because we capture a moment in time. Well many of the greatest painters (artists) did the same thing. Look at Rembrandt's "The Night Watch," Picasso's "Guernica," or any of Renoir's many pictures of people and their activities. The difference, of course, is that painters work long and hard at making their pix, while we photogs just click, download, maybe manipulate, and send. The best photo images are made, not captured.

Success! B&H had one (1) 88-95mm step-up ring for $68, special order (4-6 weeks). Then, to old reliable eBay, which had one for $25 and will be here next week.

As I said above, this lens is fun to use because of its weight and compactness. Biggest negative is the weird bokeh (blurred donuts). Optical quality is excellent but of course, it's manual focus. Results coming soon.
