I used the 200-500 on my D 7100 with great results. Picked up a new D 500 for a song from some Ding Dong that was going mirror less. Focusing is much faster with the D 500 is the only difference I see.

Cowboys are needed only for ‘free range’ cattle - not having ever been one, I’m not sure how many are needed to watch them when aren’t moving. In any case, observing the Sabbath is included in #4.

I have a friend that goes to a lot Estate Sales and calls me often with questions and for advise. He has purchased nice Nikon primes which end up on my bodies. He said things are beginning to pick up now that things are opening up.

I prefer a PNS to have an optical view finder as it just seems un natural to look a screen after all these years.

This buck was taken with a 200-500 Nikon hand held in a heavy timber at dusk. Auto ISO 3200 f6.3 at 500mm. Looks sharp to me extended.

Say this buck and doe grooming each other of wood ticks. The young buck has one in the middle of his forehead, reminding me of a zit on a teenager.
D7100 and nikkor 200-500.

I try to attend the Division 5 points race at Earlville every year. Being an ex racer and friend of the Manager I can get a restricted pass and shoot from the guard rail. Stock and Super Stock are my favorites as they pull some fantastic wheelies. No fuel cars but I never watched them when we were racing. I'll post some of my pix sometime. National Dragster in the past had a very good photo contest but I don't know if they still do.

One thing that I noticed after switching to BBF when using long a long focal lens (80-200,200-500)
and switching back to a shorter lens it seemed easier to get the balance right with the longer and heavier lens. Ok with it now but did (and does) take some adjustment on my part.

Nice shot. I'm planning on going to "WINGS OVER WHITEMAN" at Whiteman AFB in Mo. this Saturday. Any UHH members going or have been before?

Raw 95% of the time. When I go to a car show or go on a motorcycle run I save in both RAW and jpeg-Fine on 2 cards. Saves time when I post on the forums I frequent.

I look at post processing on a computer just as I did using a dodging stick or a burning in a spot with my thumb and index finger in the wet dark room. Very few negs or images are perfect.

I use a Siriu ball head and tripod along with a Induro GHBA gimbal similar to a side kick that mounts to the ball head. Works well with my D7000 and D7100 with the 200-500 zoom.
Here is a link to the ebay seller of the gimbal. It is an open box but is as new.
