Wow! Late to this party...thanks RR. So much terrific stuff here..I wanna go everyplace! I do feel it appropriate to particularly thank Kat for her wonderful images. (some of them really scared me). Amazing!

So here are my humble contributions...

Sorry, RR...I probably don't quite get the distinction between a path and a trail...for please forgive my terminology here.

.

a path in the woods

a path to the lake

a path that only water takes

a path for the brave

a path to the sea

a path for you and me

a path around a tree

a path that only I can see.

Thanks to Rolk...here's that seagull with a better OOB treatment.

These are great, Mr. Maybe.

Love the "OOB" image. A little trick I learned...you can change
the lower white border to match the background yellow of UHH
in your PP software...change "R" to 236, "B" to 235 and "G" to 201.

Tim

Thanks for the compliment and the tip...that would make it look better on this site huh? I'll try it one day.

Birds are the animals that seem to be in front of my lens most often...

Here's a small collection.

Thanks everyone...You've confirmed my fears.

I was hoping someone else had had the same condition and would tell me "all you have to do is push this button for 30 seconds while facing North and it should be fixed". One can hope, right?

Thanks again....now to fix or get an SB 400?...hmmmm...I wish the SB 400 could be a commander.

BTW, I think "bump" is accurate. It was sitting on the floor of my car, below my legs, when I turned a corner a little fast. The camera rolled over half way, ending up upside down. I certainly could have put some pressure on the popup, but that actually still works with manual triggering. The is absolutely no visible evidence of the mishap.

Try contacting Nikon support. They probably have heard of that problem before and can give you better suggestions than the guesses you will get here.

Thanks...probably right

The built-in flash should pop up automatically when the camera is in auto or scene modes. You have to push the flash button when it's in program. shutter priority, aperture priority, and manual modes. I don't know why the flash isn't firing though. Try your testing again under low light conditions to be sure.

Thanks, CO...I know how all that is suppose to work and my camera does none of it correctly (except it will pop up when the flash button is pressed)...and I have tried to fire flash with lens cap on...I'm guessing that should be low light enough, no?

The built in flash on my D7500 stopped working after a bump to the camera (which may or may not be the trigger, because I didn't immediately notice the problem). It will not automatically pop up when it should/used to. It will pop up when I press the button next to it, but it will not flash or charge. The viewfinder still shows the flashing lightning bolt as if the flash is needed but is not deployed. It seems the camera doesn't know it is open.

Any flash unit attached to the hot shoe works just fine.

Reading about someone else's problem with auto focus made me try a factory reset...didn't work.

I really don't want to send it to Nikon. I may just live with it, but it sure is convenient to have it for those occasions where some fill flash would be nice and I didn't bring my speed lite with me.

Any suggestions as to what's wrong will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I finally realized I put this in the wrong "Tis the season" challenge...so, another try...OK, right...we all get a pass sometimes.

The previous, wrong location post...-

I wear lots of hats...I have a hat for being a Brother, Dad, Husband, Grand Dad, and since my retirement still isn't complete after 5 years, I still have that hat too, sometimes.

I could go on, ...but that's not what you meant is it? I am actually not much into hats (never have been). Since by baseball-playing days are long since over the only hat I wear anymore (except maybe while skiing) is this one...

Usually 3 days a week for a while. It may not be very glamours, but it sure is important.

I tested one out, by accident, (pun intended) some years ago and know they do their job.

BTW - lots of great head gear being shown here...fun to see everyone.

Oh, and I also realized that if I hadn't figured out that I messed up, you wouldn't have missed much anyway...

Early in September i was going a little to fast and I need to pay a fine. Does anyone know how to send 40 Euros to the Austrian police. Western Union says they can't. The police seem to think i can wire it to them at a IBAN and BIC number but do not tell me how to do it. The credit card company is not much help nor Eurocar

I got a camera-trigger ticket in France two years ago. I didn't know it till we had been home a couple of months. The ticket and payment instructions were in french. My daughter could translate for me and it was just a matter of paying online with a credit card after that.

I was told to ignore it by some friends, as others have mentioned. Not only might other EU countries give you grief, I've been told the rental car company may not rent to you again, so consider those things.

It's (I just scrambled the letters) the season in SoCal too. Not sure which season actually, they are all pretty much the same. Sometimes a little warmer, some times a little wetter, but...).

The day after Thanksgiving I went whale watching.

Then we got the house decs out yesterday and did that stuff.

Me (in my Kayak) and a bunch of other idiots in late November.

Me again (my feet), with Redondo Beach in the distance. I gotta get better at these selfies!

That's some part of a whale right there. Maybe 30' away. I got a pretty good view of him, but wasn't quick enough with the camera.

We aren't done inside yet...this is last year's table, but I know it will look exactly like this this year!

Nice perspective on the season Pat O'...I took me a while to figure out what I was seeing in the image with the red wreath. I then found the Gary Fong puffer on line and bought one. I hadn't seen this before and it sure looks like it will make a big difference when I don't want to mess with more sophisticated lighting solutions. Thanks!
